The Dead – End Kidz (DEK) is a 5 people classic – hard – rock band that comes from New York. Even though they are quite unknown to the general public, with their new album ‘Unfinished Business’, they are making an attempt to ‘escape’ from the borders of their country of origin. And the truth is that with this album we definitely have an effort that fills you with hope for the future, although the band is not quite new as they were basically created in 1990. Having been influenced by bands like AC/DC, Rush, Kiss, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Saxon, Riot and Ted Nugent, DEK are moving into well known musical patterns of the specific kind of music, without diverging even  for one moment from their goal. The hard rock scene of ‘70s passes in front of our mind, from the very first track.

‘Unfinished business’ is basically their 2 album. In fact, I haven’t heard of them neither from their first one nor from anywhere else, but having in my hands this disk I had my opportunity to investigate them. And the first thing I can write for these 5 guys from US is that their music is raw and dirty hard rock n’ roll for sure. The kind of music that falls as a heavy fist on your face. Not complicated music and definitely not many musical instruments inside it, just guitars, bass, drums, vocals and many many in – your – face riffs, crazy solos and chorus. In general, you can feel the tension around you for the almost 30 minutes of duration of the album. Production is good enough and it gives the personal touch of DEK on how they want their music to be heard. Another positive thing is that the duration of the tracks is the best so that they won’t result as to be boring. My only matter with that entire staff is that the kind of music they play is quite limited and it for sure has some borders, so they have to thing of doing something in the future that will still be very strong and will help them remain in the rock scene. It is a common phenomenon in our days to have some bands producing something great for 1 or 2 albums and then comes the downfall that cause their disappearance or their being disbanded. Finally, I believe that the performance in vocals can be better and more memorable in the bright future.

In summary, of course we cannot say that we are talking about an album that it will change the musical history or open new horizons, but it is about a remarkable attempt, that in the year of 2009 is very positive to realize that there are still bands that playing this music with so much appetite. What is better for you than taking a taste of DEK for yourselves? From where else? From their MySpace profile (http://www.myspace.com/dekmusic) of course. To end with, I personally enjoyed every track and I recommended to classic hard rockers with many beers… Hail to dirty, raw and powerful hard rock n’ roll!
