So the first disappointed of the New Year is here... My well known and first class record label Relapse Records has released something, which is way below and way out of their highly acclaimed reputation as one of the best and extremists record labels out there.

What we have then… Well it is Buzzov•en, a for me unknown band, which was alive for ten years (1989 till 1999) as a thrash sludge metal band and has released 3 full-length albums and a handful of smaller sound producing discs. After their split in 1999 a final compilation album was released in 2005 and now five years later Relapse thought it was time to release 5 unreleased songs of a tape from 1995.

First of all for the review a streamer is used to listen to the songs, so already the computer fucks up the bad MP3 sounds and second, while these songs were directly taken from a cassette (not even the master tapes) so you can imagine what a bad sound quality, or better disqualified, it will be. Another negative aspect is, that from the 5 “not bad played” songs, the fourth song “Nod” ends as a boring repetitive sound(e)scape full of distorted vocals, guitar (?) sounds and other noise walls, shortening the real playing time to a ridiculous 15 minutes.

This album doesn’t pay a worth full respect to the band Buzzov•en at all and should at least be remastered and maybe loaded with extra tracks or compilation stuff to have a decent release. Buzzov•en displays at least some weird intense heavy sludge metal core with some industrial (old Ministry) influences. For the true fans an interesting release for the rest not even worth to become a (true) fan.

I will use the title of the last song “I never” to describe my feelings.

Very little respect for such a respected label!
