This band seems to be the next big thing hailing from Greece following the success of such home bands like Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh even Suicidal Angels (now under the flag of Nuclear Blast). This big expectation is arising through their new effort. So here is the vocalist Manthos Stergiou answering to some questions about the new album the band in general and some more intersting "math"-themes.

1-First of all congratulation for the new album!!!
Are  you satisfied with the final result?

Thank you very much!!! Yeah, we are very happy with our new baby!! I believe that the album has a very good result. But when you want something that bad, you are never completely satisfied. That happens because we always try to be better. When something is finished you say: "I could have done it better." We are very cruel to ourselves because this is the only way to improve! Now we are waiting for the people’s opinion about it!

2-Your debut is out now. So how is the response to it these first days of its release?

First of all I must to tell you that “the sea..” is not our debut album, it’s the second one! Our first full leght is called  “distorting point of view” and was  released at 2006 under the greek label Venerate Industries. So now about the new album, we’ve had a very good response till now from our friends, web sites, magazines e.t.c I think  most of the people are saying that there is a big progress comparing to  the first album and I agree with that!!

3-So whats your expectations through this release?

First of all what we want the most is that people will like our new album as much as we like it. We also want to play as many live shows as possible and in places we’ve never played before. That’s for now!

4-How could you describe the music of Tardive Dyskinesia?

I would describe it as progressive metal. More specifically: take some mathematical rhythms mixed up with aggressive hardcore vocals, sharp guitars, majestic melodies, just a bit of death metal and south attitude. These describe 50% of what we play. The other half you have to discover by listening to our new album!

5-How did you come in touch with Coroner Records?

The deal with Coroner Records came through our myspace site. Once again, network proved that can be good for a Greek band like us! After we were done with the mixing and mastering we started seeking for a company. We came in touch with many companies through the network, we even went ourselves and came in touch with members of big record labels but noone seemed to be interested on what we do so far.  We didn't ask for much.. you know.. the usual stuff. Drugs, prostitutes, parties, limousines, red carpets, glory and fame. Coroner was the only record label that could give us that all!!! HAHA!!! They came in touch with us and I can tell that we had the best deal from all.

6-Are you satisfied with the label support so far?

Yes!! They are very OK and they have helped us very much with everything that has to do with promotion.

7-Why you choose "The Sea Of See Through Skins" as an album title?

The Sea of See Through Skins is one of our songs. It is a title that represents the whole concept of the album!! It’s about the reality of our life. The sea represents the society we live in and the see through skins show the real inner self of us. It’s something like an x –ray of our society but in the same time an x-ray of ourselves. No matter how hard we try to hide behind a beautiful mask, our character always appears in the end.  

8-How are you going to support from your side the new album?

I think that live appearances are the best way to promote your music!! And we are definitely a live band! So the first 2 lives have already been booked. On the 5th of December at Harley bar at Thessaloniki and on the 11th of December at Sin City Athens we will present all the songs of our new album Live!!

9-Why did you choose this strange name "TARDIVE DYSKINESIA" for a band name?

Tardive Dyskinesia is a neurological disease that appears to people after a long term use of psychotic drugs and is characterized by repetitive, involuntary, purposeless movements .I believe that it's  a representative name of our music cause a lot of different rhythms are included and there are a lot of changes inside the songs. During our lives shows people can’t do the classic headbaging because the riffs and the rhythms change all the time and their moves look  spastic and abnormal, as if they had tardive dyskinesia!!!hahaha

10-And from where your influences for the creation of "The Sea Of See Through Skins" were coming?

We have many different influences that start from the 70's and come up till now. From the oldies but goodies there are bands we can name like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Rush, that come to the 90's like Metallica, Pantera, to end up to bands like Meshuggah, Textures, Gojira and many other bands like Intronaut, Keelhaul etc. Many bands and sounds that have passed over the years and each one has something special to give. Of course inspiration has no limits since you  can always get a riff just by listening to a locust...

11-Speak us a little about the greek scene? Can you suggest some other promisin bands from there?

In Greece we have a quite big metal scene, which evolves during the years. There are many underground bands which in my opinion kick ass!!! Unfortunately in Greece  the pop- bouzoukia is the most popular kind of music and the most promoted on tv and radio. When you combine this we the little number of live stages and the little number of people coming to the live gigs, you understand why a Greek metal band has to look for a career abroad.
Some of our favourite bands are Μencea, Inveracity, Agnes Vein, National pornografik, common i, Homoiratus, Extraordinary rendition, Universe 217 and many more.

12-What about the lyric topics of the new album?

The things that inspire us most is the daily life we live in and all the disgusting matters we come up face to face every day and they make you feel terrible for being a human being. All from the smallest to the biggest problems we face, from daily to entire life matters that make our society even more diseased compared with someone who has Tardive Dyskinesia. I don’t know where to start from. From the society with all the greed in it? Religion with all their representatives that want to have all the wealth for them selves? From people around us, that, their only goal till they die, is to step over human bodies so that they will earn more and more material stuff for nothing? These things and many many more are the things that inspire the lyrics. Things we face and we have faced, not only from our own experience, but from others too, because we see it - we live it everyday.

13-And whats your philosophy like a band?

We want to do what we do with honor and respect without licking  anyone’s ass!!

14-So now with the hand on the heart, give a point to your own album (perfect is 10)?

Haha!! This in not easy!! But with all this bullshit that we hear everyday from many bands I think that 8 is fair for us and for all this work that we’ve done!

15-Whats the biggest dream concerning the band?

Our biggest dream, at least mine, is to reach a certain point when we will be able to do what we love, which is playing our music, without having to spend our money!!! We don’t have any ambitions of being rock stars with expensive cars and Jacuzzis! We want though to be able to record albums, make tours everywhere and pay our rent at the same time

16-How important is the band for your lifes?

The band is our Life!!! Ask my girlfriend! Haha! It’s one of the things in life that makes us happy and gives us strength to go on and don’t give up when things get tough.

17-Whats the best greek band ever in your opinion? And the worst one ever?

My favorite Greek band is Μencea, which doesn’t mean that I am being unfair to all these other bands that I love. As for the worst greek band I ’d say  Kokkina Halia, they really suck!!!!

18-Tell us your future plans

At this moment we are more energetic than ever and we plan to promote “the sea…” by giving as many live shows as possible in Greece but also in Europe. We also rehearse our new songs for our upcoming which will be ready in the end of 2010.
