VALHALL - RED PLANET

HOUSECORE RECORDS 2011

Release:     19-09-2011
Origin:     Norway
Length:     47:37

When your music is dripping from and drenched in a huge bowl of 60’s and 70’s rock, spiritual spacey psychedelics and reminds you of the good old Woodstock days, than it is no problem to present a delayed review of Valhall’s “Red Planet” album. Especially when you know that this album was already recorded in 2000, released in 2009 by Housecore Records in the US and now finally after 11 years finds it’s way to Europe through Hammerheart Records.

Housecore Records is the label of the musical centipede Phil Anselmo, so this explains also the ranging musical releases from obscure black metal until Valhall’s doom 70’s space rock.

Valhall was an unknown entity for me and seems to have started out as a black metal band, like any band in the northern part of Europe. But now almost 25 years later their third release with obscure and very black sabbathish space rock is polluting my house.

Pure metal fans should stay away from this release but every one with an open ear and especially open mind will enjoy song titles as “Suicidal Hippie” and “Easy Rider”. Easy listening and groovy tunes with the ultimate 70’s sound dedication and relaxing for your body, mind and soul. Take a zip at their myspace account for a good orientation. I am a huge Black Sabbath fan and Valhall is the ultimate musical dedication.

One of the few bands that really can reproduce and thus revive the 70’s spirit!
