After the mythical, logical and incredible return in 2009 with the “Absu” album, now 2 years later another “Abzu” is waiting for your attention. I only would advise, don’t wait any longer and undergo this next Sumerian occult black thrash attack.

It already starts with the cover. As with the 2009 album yet another mind-blowing and attention attracting cover is printed at the front side of the album. So far so good, but what about the music…

Well the music is as mind blowing and attracting as the cover. Despite the shortness of the album, Absu is still able to present 7 tracks that are overall quite fast performed and contain a lot of Absuish thrash and black metal, but also lacks the typical atmospheric Absu ingredients. With this I mean the attractions and musical additions that made their records up till 2001 so interesting.

This time Absu is more focused on the basic guitar, drums and bass sounds, that are very well recorded, sound insane and aggressive and shows all the typical Absu elements. On top of these the maniacal, magical and insane voice of drummer and vocalist Proscriptor and here is your absolute Absu record.

The more sophisticated and pure Absu fans might say that the focus on the new record is mainly towards speed, fast playing and more black metal traditionalized than what Absu stands for. Where are the moments that you were misled from the blackened path and shown the emotions, atmospheres and genre strange influences that albums as “Tara” or “The Sun of Tiphareth” made genre classics of their own?!

Never mind my only negative is that this album is way too short, but for that there is the repeat button!

This 6th storm of Abzu will bring you insane and incredible darkened black thrash metal. Enjoy this mythological occult metal and I can’t wait to see them live again at the end of this month.
